Nineveh: A Tale of Two Cities (Or Jonah, the sequel – The book of Nahum)
Series: (All)
The book of Nahum serves as something of a sequel to the book of Jonah.  There is much we can learn about God from these 3 short chapters: 1) God is Long-Suffering (He is Patient); 2) God is Lawful (He is Just); 3) God is Loving (He is Forgiving).

    What is Worship?
    Series: (All)
“Worship” is one of those words that will bring you various definitions, depending on who you ask.  Some will tell you it’s an attitude that you should have, either in church or in all of life.  Others will talk about a wonderful “worship service” they attended – pointing to worship as something that is done in groups.  Still others relegate worship to the musical portion of a church service, perhaps led by the Worship Pastor.

Worship is more than the songs we sing at church, though it includes them.  Our worship is to be directed towards God, but, it is done together with others as well.  There are 3 primary texts that we’ll look at as we worship:
    • Our Worship Should Be Filled with Joyful Praise and Reverent Adoration (Ps. 95:1-7)
    • Our Worship Should Come from Our Whole Selves – Heart & Mind (John 4:23-24)
    • Our Worship Should be Combined with That of Others to Bring God a Variety of Praise (Eph. 5:19-20)
Let’s come together with everything we have to praise the Lord – He is Worthy of Our Worship!

    Standing on the Promises
    Series: (All)
In 1 Corinthians 10 Paul gives us some of God's promises for times of temptation and testing.  He promises that the temptations will not be beyond our human capability to resist or endure; He promises that He will remain faithful to us; and He promises that He will make a way of escape.

It is not beyond our spiritual ability to resist or endure temptation.

    A Window to a Witness
    Series: (All)
Join us as we hear Philip the Evangelist tell us about his experience on the road from Jerusalem to Gaza, when he met the Ethiopian eunuch.  His account gives us a glimpse at that encounter in which he shared the Gospel and had the privilege of baptizing that new believer.

Like Philip, let's obey God and accept HIs opportunities.

    God’s Vineyard
    Series: (All)
Through a parable in the form of a song, Isaiah tells a story about God's Vineyard.  His purposes are to encourage us to maximize all that God has given us; to recognize that God has expectations for us; and to pursue justice and righteousness.

We do not belong to ourselves, we are the workmanship of God.

    The Authentic Word of God
    Series: (All)
The Bible has always been attacked by those who are opposed to God and Christianity.  In light of the growing trend to see the Bible as just a collection of fables, legends, history, and moral precepts, we must remind ourselves why we believe the Bible is the literal word of God, given to us as our source of authority for faith and practice.

The Bible is the word of God, written for your benefit.  It is food for your soul, guidance for your life, and your foundation for living.

    The Tricky Topic of Halloween
    Series: (All)
Halloween, for the most part, is a time of year that leaves many a Christian scratching their head wondering what to do.  Is it innocent fun?  Is it glorifying the occult?  Is it okay for Christian kids to dress up in costumes and go trick or treating?  Should I participate at any level, or lock the door, turn out the lights, and pretend I’m not home?

In this message, Pastor Greg identifies the origins of Halloween.  Then, drawing from the principles in 1 Cor. 10, encourages us to strive for a Biblical orientation, seeking to apply those principles to Halloween.

We are free in Christ, and yet, we need to avoid that which dishonors God and glorifies Satan.

    Who’s On My Side?
    Series: (All)
We are to be on God's side first, before anything else.  He is certainly on our side.  He is for us.  He is working for our good.  But first we belong to Him.  First we are on His side, not He on ours.

    Two Pillars of Our Faith
    Series: (All)
Psalm 19 deals with two great truths that are pillars of our faith, the creation of God and the Word of God.  It introduces us to two of the ways God has revealed Himself to us; in creation and in the Bible.  In our world of atheism, humanism, secularism, evolution, and post-modernism, this psalm is vital for us.  It is a shelter against the prevailing winds of our day.

Look to the heavens and see the glory of the creator God.  Read the Bible and gain insight into this God.

    Graveyard Shift
    Series: (All)
Some  Psalms talk about God being our help from various problems that surround us.  But what do we do when the problem is not around us but is IN us?  Times when we are “in the depths” (doubts, besetting sin, spiritual dryness, feeling distant from God, etc.)?  Psalm 130 assures us that God is our deliverer in these times as well!

When a shadow is over your soul, there is hope.
